OFF-WHITE: A SLAM DUNK IN THE BIG APPLE

Ib Kamara, Virgil Abloh’s successor at the helm of Off-White, has made his mark at New York Fashion Week with a Spring/Summer 2025 collection that is much more than just clothes. «Duty Free«, as it has been dubbed, is a tribute to Abloh’s African roots and a celebration of the cultural diversity that defines the Big Apple.

A dream come true on Pier 2

Kamara chose a setting as iconic as it was unexpected: Pier 2 in Brooklyn Bridge Park. Transformed into a colossal basketball court, this space became the perfect canvas to present a collection that fuses streetwear with traditional African elements. With this gesture, Off-White not only paid tribute to Abloh, but also vindicated basketball as a sport that unites cultures and transcends borders.

Ghana, New York and a bridge between the two

Inspired by a trip to Ghana, the homeland of his predecessor, Kamara has created a collection that dialogues with the urban aesthetic of New York. Vibrant prints, fluid fabrics and oversized silhouettes are intertwined with references to African popular culture, creating a visually striking and meaningful ensemble.

Beyond fashion: a message of unity

«Duty Free» is much more than just a clothing collection. It is a statement of intent, a call for unity and a celebration of diversity. By choosing basketball as a common thread, Kamara has created an immersive experience that transcends the catwalk and connects with a wider audience.

Off-White has surprised once again with a proposal that goes beyond trends. Kamara has shown that he is capable of keeping Abloh’s legacy alive and, at the same time, imprinting his own vision on the brand. With «Duty Free», Off-White has achieved a real slam dunk at New York Fashion Week.
